For International Womxn's Day, we are launching new work that examines the 150+ year history of care work performed by racialized women in Canada, including Live-in Caregivers
We created this artwork for Remember | Resist | Redraw - a radical history poster project produced by the Graphic History Collective (GHC) that aims to intervene in the Canada 150 conversation. Collectively, we hope to encourage people to critically examine history in ways that can fuel our radical imaginations and support struggles for radical change.
Thank you to Dr. Ethel Tungohan, GHC and all the caregivers, advocates and community allies whose support makes our work possible.
Check out the Cup Doodle Pop-Up & Exhibition on March 10, 2017 from 6-9 pm at SKETCH Studios, 180 Shaw St. - it's free & open to the public! Artists from the Cup Doodle - 9-week Comic-Making Workshop & Residency Program will be sharing their comics, doodles, and noodles!
This 9-week Comic-Making Workshop & Residency Program provides financial, cultural and mutual support to marginalized Asian youth interested in building an art community and developing their story-writing and image-creation skills. This project is coordinated by Althea Balmes, and supported by SKETCH Working Arts and the Ontario Arts Council - Conseil des arts de l'Ontario.
