This hands on and embodied workshop explores burnout and rest for creative and creative minded individuals. Be prepared to get in touch with your heart, mind, body, spirit, self and community.
Kwentong Bayan Collective artists Althea Balmes (she/her) and Melanya Liwanag Aguila (she/they) will facilitate movement, reflection and creativity to deepen our relationship with rest and prevent burnout. What does burnout feel like? How can we integrate more rest in our everyday creative practices? What do we need to learn about ourselves in order to better take care of ourselves?
This workshop is 3 hours with a break. Participants can expect to create a small self-care zine and learn breathing techniques, movements and meditations to help release tension and relax the body and mind.
Please bring a yoga mat or a rug, wear something comfortable to move in, water to stay hydrated, and 1 or 2 of your favourite drawing or writing tools. We will have some art materials available at the space.
All workshop materials will be provided. No experience required. All are welcome.
Accessibility information: The workshop will occur on the main floor of the Boarding House Arts. Washrooms on site are not wheelchair accessible.
