Thanks to curator Stacy Leigh Pigg and Cristina Moretti at Centre for Imaginative Ethnography for publishing our work in the Imaginings Project: Comics and the Anthropological Imagination. Imaginings is a new space for projects which aim to disrupt, disturb, enrage, muddle; a generative space to think about new and old questions, in new and sometimes old ways. Kwentong Bayan Collective gave a presentation at the Filipino-Canadian Action Research Summit on December 5, 2015. The event brought together researchers, artists and community members whose research initiatives and arts projects examine Filipino experiences in Canada. Photos: JC Bonifacio
The Coalition for Migrant Workers Rights - Canada (CMWRC) calls for open work permits and permanent immigration status for migrant workers on arrival. Sign the petition: www.migrantrights.ca We are excited to be a part of the 5th Annual Ryerson Social Justice Week from October 5 to 9, 2015. The theme is “Social Justice and Democracy: Arts, Activism and the Academy”. Kwentong Bayan Collective will facilitate the Art Tools Workshop: Cartoons For Social Change on October 6, 2015 from 4-6 PM. Participants will generate ideas through mind-mapping, learn how to combine re-purposed images and doodles to create one-of-a-kind mixed media comics that explore social justice issues. We will have lots of materials to work with and folks are invited to bring their own images! |
